Its not a font... you gotta remember back then, most stuff was hand painted.  I believe that is the case.  There are fonts very close to it though.

Oh ya, I remember those days...  I used to be the designated stuckee to make the numbers for our old short track stuff...  Made the template out of cardboard and went to the store, bought some self adhesive shelf liner and cut them out, then used a brush and very slowly and very carefully outlined them........

Guess I will check dafont and a few other font sites and see what I can find....

Thanks for reminding me of the old days again!!  Love the old days, racin was so much more fun than it is now....

If you can't find it an idea since you seem to have some history of doing this stuff by hand would be to do it on a piece of paper with like a sharpie or something, just the basic outline, and then scan it into your computer and use it as a guide to make it.
